How can I use a reward certificate, if my order amount is less than a certificate amount ( for example if my order total is $30 and if I wanted to use a reward certificate of $50) the system is not allowing me and throws this error and not able to check out.

"Sorry, but your reward certificate can’t be used because it exceeds the value of eligible items in your order."

Could you please help?

Welcome to the Best Buy forum, and that's a great question!  The answer is you'll need to add something else to your order if you want to redeem the certificate.  An orders pre-tax total would need to equal or exceed the value of the certificate(s) being used for the certificates to be applied.  A certificate doesn't have any actual monetary value, so no change would be provided.  If you have a $50 certificate, then the orders pre-tax total would need to be at least $50.  Let us know if you have any other questions.

Unless noted otherwise on the reward certificate, each reward certificate will expire 60 days from the issuance date. Reward certificates have no cash value and no change will be given for reward certificate redemption. Reward certificates may be used only once. Reward certificates expire at 11:59 p.m. CT on the expiration date shown on the reward certificate.

Thanks Derek for quick response, I understood there is no monetary value for a certificate, in that case can I request for a split of $50 certificate in to two $25 or ten $5 or five $10? so that I can use them accordingly to choose close to my order.

A certificate can't be converted back into points once having been issued, and a certificate can't be broken into multiple certificates.  If your certificate has a value of $50, then the full $50 would need to be redeemed with the pre-tax total being at least $50.  I'd like to go over your rewards account with you in a bit more detail, so I'll be sending you a private message shortly.  You can read a private message by logging into the forum and clicking on the envelope icon at the top of the page.

This is such a scam! Every other rewards program lets you split, combine or use partial rewards if you’d like. So technically you cannot use your rewards unless you spend more money at Best Buy. Now I remember why I didn’t shop here for the last ten years.
