Best Buy purchase with 1st time credit card 10%

Hi I purchased a new TV this Oct 14 and applied for the Best Buy credit card cause of the 10% off 1st purchase bonus. In customer service, they confirmed that even though Best Buy check out said 5% standard purchase, since it is my 1st, I would see 10% cash back in mybestbuy rewards. My TV gets delivered today and odd I got a welcome email from Best Buy Citi telling me congratulations and here is your 10% off 1 time use coupon. Now I am worried, did my 1st online purchase not get the initial 10%? Thanks

Can a customer service representative please get back to me on this, store and 800 number are giving me the walk-around. I am tempted to just return my $2500 purchase. Thanks

Welcome back to our community forums. The My Best Buy credit card is a great way to get more My Best Buy points or use promotional financing. I'd be happy to give you some more information about this promotion.

 

As you mentioned, the My Best Buy credit card offers 10% back in My Best Buy rewards on your first purchase if you choose standard financing. These points will typically post to your account 20 days after you receive your products or 35 days for Magnolia purchases.

 

Citibank may also send out coupons but those would not be associated with this promotion. I hope I was able to clear this up! Please let me know if you have any other questions I can help with!

Thanks for the reply, the points are already pending but only show a 5%. That's why I called in and no one can tell me if and when the other 5% will show.

Ok finally saw the whole 10% rewards pending. The missing points got added as a new card member bonus. That was the missing information no one could tell me. Anyways now I have like 12,000 pending points, but still not showing Elite status. Am I going to get like 12 $20 certificates or will it allow me to use all points at once on a new purchase? I was told that in Elite status I would get to use all at once with no limit on auto issuing certificates. Was I misled on this information?

A certificate will be automatically issued based on your certificate preference, and if you have 12,000 pending points, then you would likely end up with two $100 certificates and two $20 certificates once those points officially post. Our members with Elite and Elite Plus status do have the option to bank the points they are awarded; however, you would need to have Elite status in-order to change your certificate preference to bank.

 

It can generally take up to 20 days after spending the required $1,500 for a member's status to be upgraded to Elite, and if the TV you recently purchased is what will put you over $1,500, then you likely won't have the option to start banking points until after those pending points officially post.  You can change your own certificate preference to bank by logging into your rewards account on BsetBuy.com after your status has been upgraded to Elite.
