Best Buy Reward Points Inquiry

Good Afternoon.
 
My name is Alexander {removed per forum guidelines}. I am not sure if I have the correct forum for this inquiry.
 
I am writing to you in regards to the Best Buy rewards, points system and it’s policies. I am reaching out you more specifically in regards to earning reward points towards the submission of product reviews on products that are purchased by the account owner.
 
I am very disappointed in your review system policies. When leaving online reviews on your best buy website in exchange for best buy reward points, policy states we are only allowed eight reviews in exchange for twenty five points per review - per calendar year furthermore your system does not stop or caution the user to stop once that limit is reached. 
 
So, for instance if the user has already made eight reviews on eight separate purchased products and has five more reviews to be completed, if those reviews are completed and submitted then they are unable to claim all the points towards those reviews and have LOST twenty five of those points per review that they were unable to leave.
 
Not to mention they are unable to redeem those points EVER, which is ridiculous, that is the users time and effort spent in leaving a product review and expressed their loyalty to Best Buy, had the user known that there is only a eight max review system I'm sure they would have stopped and left the rest of the reviews for the next calendar year! 
 
It is not a fair system, but of course you still allow the user to continue leaving reviews and show loyalty to best buy through your review system in order to benefit BEST BUY for future purchase and sales. Best Buy wins but the user loses. It's a very cruel system and policy you guys have for claiming rewards for reviews on purchases made.
 
Is there any way for the user to claim these points on reviews that have been completed and submitted?

Thank you for reaching out to us regarding our My Best Buy bonus for reviewing products! Having our customer's feedback always helps us to know where we may improve on our systems, processes, and policies. 

It's fantastic to hear that you've been reviewing products! These reviews not only help us as a retailer, but the manufacturer and most importantly, other customers in their purchasing decisions. We hope that our customers' incentives to leave product reviews is motivated by the desire to share their feedback, and that this offer is merely as named, a bonus. 

 

As you've seen, we do state that there is a limit in the offer terms of eight bonuses per calendar year. We would never want to dissuade a customer from leaving their feedback on a product, so we would not cut off a customer's ability to post such reviews simply because they've reached the maximum bonus points for this offer for the year. Customers should have full access to the offer details and to their My Best Buy history to see where they stand on review bonuses in a year. 

 

We greatly appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback on this. At this time though, we would not have a way for you to receive the bonus points for any additional reviews you've left after reaching the limit.

Thank-you for responding back. Without a doubt what you say is true, those reviews not only help Best Buy as a retailer, but I can also see how it helps the manufacturer and other customers in their purchasing decisions. Honestly, the only reason I left my product reviews in your system was not motivated by my desire to share my feedback, it was more because of your offer to earn bonus reward points which I could then redeem for future savings.

 

Yes, you do state that there is a limit in the offer terms of eight bonuses per calendar year. I understand you would never want to dissuade a customer from leaving their feedback on a product and you would want to cut off a customer's ability to post such reviews simply because they've reached the maximum bonus points for that offer for the year but for the customers like myself that are leaving product reviews mainly to earn a bonus there should be some sort of notification or larger print of your terms and policy so they can understand that by continuing to leave reviews after their terms of eight bonuses per calendar year each review after that will not be valid to redeem a bonus for. It may be in the fine print but it isn't very nice to the customers that have spent their time and efforts chasing bonus points.

 

I spent alot of my time and effort writing alot of reviews when I could have waited until the next calendar year which is what I am going to do now moving forward (which is ridiculous because it's important to have recent reviews on products and not obselete ones). It's a faulty service and should be rethought.

 

Although I appreciate many of Best Buy’s services such as it’s sales, price matching guarantee, and rewards for purchases. I am dissatisfied with the terms and conditions that are abided through your policy for some of your other benefits. Such as your return day system that is measured on the level of your membership. As well as the limitation of reviews for reward points in a calendar year, although I can understand the reason for the cutoff there is no justice for the customers that are spending countless dollars at your store and taking their time and effort to leave reviews on your website to only be told after they completed and submitted all their and reviews and passed the eight review cutoff - that those points and rewards will not be awarded or redeemable towards certificates. Of course you still allow us, your “loyal customers” to continue leaving reviews for you with no notification mentioning otherwise.

 

That is very unfair!
