Automatic generation of Best buy Certificate

Somehow, your rewards system changed on your credit card.  I am no longer allowed to save my points but instead you have issued a certificate which expires in 2 months.  Is this Covid-19 friendly.  Other companies are giving cash back like automobile insurance.  You on the other hand expect that we with limited means want to purchase something right now and instead want us to either buy stuff we can't afford right now or lose the credit that we received.  This is NOT A BRAND FRIENDLY ACTION.   


In addition, before I was informed of your unfriendly policy, I waited 40 minutes online to talk with a service rep and when I asked to talk with a supervisor I was told there was a 48 hour callback window.  On top of that I had a question for your credit card department and so I was trying to be nice and send it through your electronic means.  Two weeks later and I still don't have an answer. 


THIS IS NOT CUSTOMER SERVICE- THIS IS HOW YOU LOSE CUSTOMERS TO AMAZON!!!!   And For sure how you lose a credit card customer.      


Please have someone respond to me via email.  So I can give them my phone number to talk thru these issues of poor customer service.

Welcome to the forum, and thank you for connecting with us regarding your My Best Buy certificate. I can assure you that there have been no major changes as of late with our My Best Buy program, nor My Best Buy Credit Card. 


It sounds like your My Best Buy tier status may have expired, which is what likely caused the change in your benefits. As an Elite or Elite Plus member, you would receive the benefit of banking your points, but not as a core member. Should you not meet the minimum spending requirements the previous calendar year, your tier status may expire. When you no longer receive the benefit of banking your points, certificates would be issued. For more details on this, you may wish to review the post below.

Once a certificate has been issued, it typically has a redemption period of 60 days, unless otherwise noted, per our My Best Buy Terms. Once expired, they typically cannot be reissued. We always want to keep customers in the loop, so we send out email notifications that include the expiration date when a certificate is issued. As emails may be filtered, overlooked, or even blocked though, we recommend members manage their rewards from, where certificates can be viewed as well. While redeeming certificates may not be at the forefront of everyone's minds, as certificates are redeemable on and in stores, and most stores remained open with curbside services, these redemption periods were not extended.
