return exhange issues

my wife purchased a wifi modem/router at a best buy in md on her way home from work. she teaches in md, but we live in york, pa. i was considering a newer set up that was faster than we currently have and cover a larger area as well. she decided to stop. she explained to the saleman basicially what i had stated here in addition to it being a cable router/modem. she didn't notice but was given an ethernet set up. i have been unable to return/exhange due to the fact that she has apparently misplaced or lost the receipt. she paid cash and did not use my rewards number so i would not see on our accounts that the purchase was made. Since it was a purchase near christmas time, this is what we typically do. With all this being said...so receipt, no crediit card (paid cash) and not tied to my rewards we are being denied a simple exchange for what we need. what are my options?

Thank you for posting on our forum for support. I hate to hear the set up your wife purchased isn't what you two were looking for in terms of a modem and router. I can understand wanting to exchange this, and I understand not having the receipt and paying in cash to be an issue. Since this was purchased in-store, your wife would need to continue working with leaders at the store regarding what options are available.

 

Since your wife is the purchaser, if she'd like to reach out to us here on the forum, through Facebook, or on Twitter (@BestBuySupport) from her own account, I'd be happy to formally document her experience in our system. In addition, I can attempt to locate her receipt and send her a copy of it, which my help. Please know that per our Privacy Policy, we are only able to discuss orders with the purchaser.
