Wrong Item Returned to Bestbuy Returns Center

This is a really weird issue, and I'm not sure if this is the correct place to raise it, but I have tried everything else (emailing Customer Support, calling support, filing a claim, contacting UPS and Apple) and haven't gotten anywhere. 

 

On April 2, 2020, I was returning two things to two different places -- a Mac Mini to Bestbuy, and an iPad Pro to Apple. I accidentally switched the return labels and sent the iPad Pro to the Bestbuy Returns Center in Shepherdsville, Kentucky via UPS, and they have since received it (verified by UPS and Bestbuy customer service). I have been trying since then to get my iPad back from bestbuy, but, as I said, I have gotten no help. I have been hung up on multiple times for no apparent reason, and with COVID-19 the wait times on calls are always 1.5 hours or more. The customer support agents that I have gotten ahold of have always just told me either (i) it will automatically be sent back to me when they realize at the returns center that it is not the correct product "within 5-10 business days", or (ii) they don't know what to do about it. It has crossed the 5-10 business day marker, so I'm not sure where to go from here.

 

I'm afraid that someone at the Bestbuy returns center opened the product, took the iPad, and now I have no way of tracking it because I turned off Find My iPad before I returned it. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to proceed?

Hi KyleSummerville,

 

This sounds like a terrible situation to be in, and I am sorry if you accidentally shipped us back an iPad you purchased from Apple instead of the Mac Mini you purchased from us. I did see the messages you sent us, but thought I should post publicly here first. I saw that you said UPS approved your claim, and is somehow sending us a check for this lost iPad. I have to be honest that I have never heard of that happening, and it is likely this is not accurate information you are getting from UPS. This is especially true as you didn't purchase this iPad from us.

 

I have reached out to our return center to see if they can locate this iPad, and once I hear back from them I will post back here.

You can check the tracking number at {removed per forum guidelines} to see that the claim was approved and issued to Bestbuy. Thanks for your help, hopefully we can get this taken care of as soon as possible.
