I returned an Item that was $641.99 to Best Buy on Saturday, 1/4/19 for which I paid for with PayPal. I have yet to receive a refund and it's now 1/9/19. I have spoken with 3 different customer service reps, some of which said I would receive a refund within 24 hours after the return, some would say within 3 days. Some said it had processed, some said it hasn't.
This has been the worst customer service experience I have ever experienced in my life. No one on their team communicates or can tell me when I will be receiving my money. I have been shopping at Best Buy for over 20 years and this will be the nail in the coffin for me.
I opened a PayPal dispute and I'm waiting to hear back. This isn't a small sum of money and Best buy needs to understand that their slow refund process (or lack thereof) effects their customers. Their complete lack of empathy over the whole thing has been an eyeopener. It honestly feels like they are taking my money hostage with shady language and practices every time I have spoken with them.

The agent may not have relized it was PayPal when they said that.
PayPal can be an odd entity in that sometimes a straight refund does not work and it has to go through an electronic check with can take several days.
Did you have the funds available in your PayPal account when you made the purchase or is your PP account linked to a checking/savings/credit card account?
If the funds were directly taken from one of those accounts to cover the PayPal purchase that could be the reson why.

I have been very clear with every agent that it was a paypal purchase and that the return would go back to paypal.
I paid for the item 100% with paypal funds. No bank account needed.

Good morning, millsj2,
I wish it were under happier circumstances, but welcome to the forum! $641.99 is definitely not a small amount of money to be missing out on, so I appreciate you bringing this concern to our attention. I’d be happy to offer some insight into our refund process, as well as point you in the right direction for assistance.
While true that most refunds we process at Best Buy stores take about three to five business days, our system should release the funds immediately. However, customers don’t always see that on their end, as most issuing banks require additional time to process the refund. In my experience, this can take up to three to five business days. Like our super user, bobberuchi, mentioned though, PayPal works a bit differently, as it ultimately depends on how you use the payment service. According to their site though, refunds can sometimes take up to 30 days to process. I truly apologize if we failed to properly set this expectation when calling us for clarification.
If you haven’t already, I would suggest reaching out to PayPal directly to discuss when you might be able to see your refund. They would be in the best position to assist you from here.

So when I purchase something from you using my paypal funds, you recieve the payment automatically and give me my purchased item.
I then decide to retun the item to you but you have no issue making me wait up to 30 days to receive my money back. Not telling me, the user/customer this before or after purchase.
Then, after speaking to multiple customer service reps, you included, I have now been told 4 different refund timellines.

Hello again, millsj2,
While I'm not sure why you would have been told otherwise, I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, especially given the previous inaccurate information. I know this wait time is not ideal; however, reaching out to PayPal directly may give you some additional information that's specific to the refund in question.
