Unauthorised charge on my bank account

I had two phone warranties with Best Buy that I canceled in August or September of this year. I have not been charged and my account shows no subscriptions. Then today, Dec 12. I had a charge for 23.10 on my bank account that said it was for a subscription at Best Buy. I immediately called and got rerouted to someone in another country. I tried to explain to him what my problem was, but since his English was not very good, i could tell he did not understand. He did tell me that he would ask them to give me a refund and that I would receive a follow up email on this. I have never received an email. The only thing that I know to do is to file a complaint with my states Attorney General which I plan to do first thing Monday. The charge wasn't but 23.10, but still it is just principal and what will keep them from doing this next month and the month after that.

Re: Unauthorised charge on my bank account

Good afternoon, stonedaphne,

Welcome to our forums.  Though I’ve been fortunate to not have to deal with it more than a handful of times, it’s always concerning to discover an unexpected charge on your credit card statement, so I can’t say I blame you for wanting to investigate this particular charge further.

In regards to this charge you’re referring to, it could appear on your statement in a variety of ways.  Our Knowledge Base article entitled What is this Charge on my Statement? offers a few different ways your charge could appear on your statement, which may help to explain where the charge is stemming from.  Be it a Geek Squad protection plan, or a subscription to an anti-virus software, it’s entirely possible this charge may not be linked to the phone protection plans you’re referring to.

If you’re still unsure what may have caused the charge you’re seeing on your statement, I’ll be happy to take a closer look and offer any additional information I can.  For me to begin my research, you’ll just need to send me a private message with the following information:

  • Your first and last name
  • Your phone number
  • Your email address
  • The date this charge was posted to your account
  • The total dollar amount of this charge

As you can imagine, we’ll want to keep this sensitive information out of the public view of our forums, so you’ll want to use the blue “Private Message” button in my signature to send me this information.  If you’re accessing our site on a mobile device, you may need to switch to “Full” or “Desktop” view before this button is visible to you.

Hope this helps,
