Touch ID for iPhone on the Best Buy App?

When I first installed the app it asked me if I wanted to enable touch ID so I did. But now any time I want to sign in, it doesn’t let me do touch ID. It just asks for a password. Any way I can fix this?

Re: Touch ID for iPhone on the Best Buy App?

Good afternoon, haidarassi0615,

Welcome back to our forums.  I use the Best Buy app to do most of my shopping with us, so I completely understand why you’d want to make sure you’re able to utilize all the features our app has to offer.  There are a few troubleshooting steps you can take to resolve the issue, and hopefully we’ll be able to help get your app working again.

For starters, I would recommend making sure you’re utilize the most recent version of the app, so be sure to check your app store for any recent updates that may have been released.  I’d also recommend signing out of the app completely, uninstall, and then reinstall the app, as this may resolve the issue as well.

If you’re still having trouble with the app after following these steps, please let us know, and we’ll be happy to offer any additional assistance we can.

Regards,

Re: Touch ID for iPhone on the Best Buy App?

The most common reason for this is not being authorized by iOS to use Touch ID/Face ID. Make sure the app is up to date as already mentioned. If you have made sure the app is up to date, then keep reading.

Whenever you first turn it on within the BestBuy app, it will send a permission request and a grey box from iOS will pop up saying the “Best Buy App is requesting to use Touch ID”. If for some reason no is selected or no choice is ever selected, then while it may show turned on in the app it is actually being ignored by the phone.

To fix, go to the phone settings > Touch ID and Passcode then enter your password. This should give you another list of toggles. Look for Other Apps and select it. Make sure the Best Buy app is toggled on. If it is not, turn it on. If the app doesn’t appear in the list, you will want to turn off Touch ID in the Best Buy app and then re-enable it.
