Re: Text scam

Hello, @gsr899

Best Buy has seen an increase in fraudulent text messages referring people to a site where they can “claim a Best Buy Gift Card” by entering certain personal information such as credit card or social security numbers. These text messages and the sites being used are not from Best Buy and Best Buy is not associated with parties promoting this activity. Best Buy will never initiate a text message where we ask for sensitive personal data like credit card information or social security numbers.

If you have received one of these messages please contact your mobile carrier to report the scammers and ask them for their specific process in stopping these messages going forward. We have also updated our privacy page on Bestbuy.com with further information on the scam and links to additional resource.

Thank you,

Rich|Social Media Specialist | Best Buy® Corporate
