Surprise GeekSquad plan purchase?

Hello! I am a Pennsylvanian resident, so I was quite shocked when yesterday evening I found a charge on my bank account for a recurring GeekSquad plan, charged for $74.19 in Richfield, MN.

Given that I live quite a ways away from there, and I don't recall purchasing a GeekSquad plan within the past few days, I was confused to say the least.

If there is a way I can find out more information regarding this transaction and resolving this problem, please let me know if there is anything I can do.

Call the 800 number and they can look it up for you. Or check your account on thier website under subscriptions. It would not have been anything from the last few days, more likely a virus program renew from a year or 2 ago. All the reoccurring charges say MN, as that's thier company head quarters.

Re: Surprise GeekSquad plan purchase?

Greetings, livingpyramid,

Welcome to the Best Buy forum community. I know how startling it can be to see a charge that you don’t recognize when reviewing your credit card statement and am glad that you reached out for more information.

@nckhammond sounds right on the mark, here. What you describe does indeed sound like it could be a renewal charge from a subscription or other Geek Squad service. For more information about types of potential charges and where you should call for additional questions, please see our Statement Charges page here.

While I wouldn’t be able to cancel any potential renewal, if you’d like, I would also be more than happy to review your account here. To get started with that, I would just need you to send me a private message with your full name, phone number, and email address.

All the best,
