Samsung Sport Watch, WARNING, NO warranty for water damage

Although the manufacturer states the watch is "water resistent" up to 50 meters, they will not warranty any watch where water is found in the watch. The Best Buy salesmen stated the watch was good for swimming, but when I pressed him for what would happen "if" water got in it, he said there would be no warranty. I now have a $200 paper weight....

Beware

Do you still have the box for it? There are a couple posts regarding this issue, at least one person in remember eventual got samsung to swap it out because it showed someone swimming with it on the packaging.

Yes. I went back to Best Buy after Samsung sent it back to me. They said, Sorry....the salesman actually smirked as he told me even though they show and recommend swimming in it, Samsung would do nothing for me. He knew the game. Best Buy should stop selling these.

Re: Samsung Sport Watch, WARNING, NO warranty for water damage

Hi there, bclau,

Welcome to the Best Buy Forums and thank you for taking the time to write in to us.

Getting a new smart watch should be exciting, and we can certainly understand wanting the piece of mind with your manufacturer's warranty. While we do offer our Return & Exchange Promise on qualifying purchases, I'd highly suggest contacting the Samsung support team for any further questions on the manufacturer's warranty and what it entails. You may also be able to review your products warranty here.

If you had any other questions that I may be able to assist with, please let me know!

Best Regards,

Re: Samsung Sport Watch, WARNING, NO warranty for water damage

I didn't buy the watch from Samsung, I bought the watch from Best Buy, Best Buy purchased from Samsung. The watch is well past your 14 day return policy. Samsung support is doing nothing for me. The fact that I was mislead by the Best Buy salesman is as bothersome as the product failure and lack of customer service by Samsung. If it will not perfrom as advertised, Best Buy should issue full credit to me.

Your best recourse here is keep pushing Samsung... a quick Google search actually shows that Australia is going after Samsung for the exact same issue. Not the USA thou Smiley Sad search the forums here for tips as there is a post of someone getting samsung to replace it.

Re: Samsung Sport Watch, WARNING, NO warranty for water damage

Best Buy doesn't warranty the item (unless you bought the Best Buy Protection Plan), Samsung does. That's why the warranty that comes with the watch is called a Manufacturer's Warranty. It's unfortunate that Samsung is refusing to honor their warranty as their claim is the 50ft resistance. I would agree with nckhammond and continue to pressure Samsung. It's not right that they're making a claim (on the box, on the media advertising for the watch, etc.) and not backing it up.
I am not a forum moderator nor voice of corporate. One of the corporate moderators will be with you as soon as they can for the official response from Best Buy. The forums work on a first come, first serve basis and it can take a while for a response.

Your best recourse here is keep pushing Samsung.

IT WORKED!

Samsung has finally accepted responsibility and is going to repair the watch at no charge.
