Thanks Andrew_UN, but it wasn't purchased as a gift to, at some point, possibly give to someone else. It would be wonderful if the Best Buy return policy was seamless, however that was not the case for me. My experience has been that most stores allow AT LEAST a 30 day window for returns.

Gift Card Re-Issue

On September 25th , I went into Fremont Best Buy to purchase an Iphone XS max and traded in my iphone 6 plus. I was rewarded with Best Buy gift card amount of $208.13.

Next month, I went into Best Buy again to use the gift card for my purchase and the best buy employee accidently scratched off the pin # on the back of my gift card COMPLETELY which we couldn’t retreive the pin#. Without pin#, the gift card is no longer usable which we cannot use the gift card! The employee just told us to call a customer service # to get a new gift card as they cannot reissue a gift card in store. I understand they could to nothing at the store but their attitude was more of an issue to me that the employee didnt feel sorry at all for making my gift card in non-usable condition.

After that, I called the customer service MANY times. I have 4 case #. You know why? Because everytime I call, the rep kept telling me that they will send me the new gift card within 10-12 business days and it’s been 4 months, and I still haven’t received the replacement card yet. I kept calling customer service for same issue and they kept telling me the same thing, and I never receive my replacement card.

After 4 months of battling to get a new card, I went into the Best But store to speak to the manager and he told me again that there is nothing that store can do for me, and everything needs to go through the phone line which I already called numerous times and haven’t received the solution for 4 long months!!! Why is this true as it was the Best Buy employees fault for scrathing off my pin #?

I need someone to take on my case to get me the replacement. I cannot wait any longer.

We're glad you're here, and we regret the long delay in our reply. We were unhappy to hear you've had some difficulties with returns. Certainly this is is not our goal!


As I'm sure you know, Best Buy's Return & Exchange Promise allows for the return or exchange of most products within 15 days of purchase (30 days for My Best Buy Elite members and 45 days for Elite Plus members). Outside those time frames Best Buy cannot offer a return or exchange.

  • Your order number, or
  • The Customer Service PIN from your store purchase receipt
