Restocking fee on a defective product?

[ Edited ]

I returned a Mavic Mini because the rotors were scratching the body while in sport mode. There is even marks on the body and gray paint on the rotor tips. The store would not accept it back for coronavirus reasons and they said to return it by mail and that I shouldnt be charged a restocking fee because obviosuly it should not be doing that. So I mailed in the the return bought the more expensive Mavic Air and today I get my refund recipt which shows I was charged a restocking fee.

I even wrote on the return slip in the box what the issue was. Here is a pic of the rotors and apparently this is known common issue with this product... {removed per forum guidelines}

I really think someone should give my $75 bucks back since i'm pretty sure you're not gonna put this item back on the shelf...

Re: Restocking fee on a defective product?

Hello, dettehadieh,

Welcome and thanks for taking the time to post on the Best Buy forum! Drones always look like such fun, so I’m disappointed to hear that you ran into issues with your Mavic Mini Fly Core Combo Quadcopter. That certainly isn’t what we want for any customer, so I’m glad that you have been able to make a return and purchase a different model DJI so that you can enjoy flying. With this said, what you describe about being charged a restocking fee for the return of a defective product is strange.

While Best Buy charges a restocking fee for certain items, it’s my understanding that defective items should not be charged that fee. See more about the Best Buy Return and Exchange Promise on the website here. If you’re still in need of assistance in this matter, I’d like to review in greater detail and see what may be possible going forward. I’ll need your full name, phone number, email address, and original order number (if available). Keep your information secure by using the “Private Message” button in my signature below this post.

Thanks,
