I am having the same agrregious experience.  There is an unaurthorized charge on my account from the "Geeksquad  etc. . . . . .  "  There was NO signed agreement for any such CHARGE or Service.  I demand this to be corrected asap.  This is happening too often and needs to be reported to the Consumer Advocacy Agency, BBB, Attorney General, and Jennifer Julian.  This thieveray must cease and desist.  The geeksquad has such a high turnover of incompetent individuals needing paychecks.  It would not be my choice of service.

I think this is a delibrate fraudulent act, that must be curtailed.

You need to log into your Best Buy account.

 

Click on where it says "Hi <your name>"

A drop down menu will appear. 

 

Then click on See all your plans and descriptions

You will see the Webroot Internet Security as a digital download.

 

Click on where it says Manage Subscription.  You need to turn off the subscription.

 

When you purchase as computer from  Best Buy the Webroot appears in your shopping cart as a free add on. You didn't agree to an automatic subscription as far as I can tell and it is automatically applied to your account. It is in the fine print.

 

I had the same issue last Fall and I contested it as a charge back with my Best Buy credit card. I did not win the contest. 

 

It is most certainly an issue Best Buy needs to address. 

 

The really needs to be an acknowledgement check box that you need to accept for this.

Welcome to the Best Buy Community forums. I understand how scary and frustrating it can be to see a charge you didn’t expect on your credit card.


As bobberuchi noted, this is likely an antivirus renewal for a subscription you purchased. If you aren’t able to find it in your account, please send me a private message, through the link in my signature, with your name, email address, and phone number. 


I can check it out and see if I can determine what the charge was for. I’ll be out of the office the next couple days, but I can get back to you on Sunday if I’m not able to today. In the meantime, you can view our article on this subject, here, for more details.
