Hello my mom bought me a gps . The car company cleaned out her car and accidentally threw the recipient away. She does not give out her phone number because she doesn't like sales people calling her. I only opened the box to look at the GPS, and now they won't even take it back for any amount of money. It was 500$ gpsand because I looked at it I can't return it. BEST Buy sells opened box products but they will not take my GPS back. Maybe times are tough so they don't want to loose the sale. All the stickers and cords are all still on it and untouched. This is not right

Welcome to our forums, and thank you for sharing your experience with us.  Having lost my fair share of receipts in the past myself, I know how frustrating it can be trying to return a purchase without one.  As frustrating as it might be, your mom does have some options to track down a replacement receipt. 

 

Because the purchase was made by your mom, we’ll need her to either contact our phone support teams at 1-888-BESTBUY (1-888-237-8289), or she’s welcome to create her own account here on our Support Forums and reach out to us for assistance.  For us to track down her purchase, we’ll just need her to provide us the information outlined in our How Do I Get a Copy of My Receipt? Knowledge Base article, and we’ll be happy to take a closer look.

Only the person who purchased this item is able to get assistance for you. WIthout the receipt you would not be able to do much. She will need to create a forum account on here ask for assistance per the Best Buy Privacy Policy.

It says on the forum that you can not get a receipt if she paid in cash.

While it does make it more difficult to find the receipt if it was paid for in cash, we may still be able to track it down, given the information outlined in our How Do I Get a Copy of My Receipt? Knowledge Base article.  If your mom would like us to take a look, she's welcome to create her own account here on our Support Forums, and send me a private message with the information we need, and I'll be happy to assist in any way I can.

Thank you for getting back to me. My mom is 74 years old and does not know how to use computers. Someone at best buy in Lebanon N.H. She told them what I needed and this is what she got for me. The gps looks great I am sure it would be good to have, except my job gives us tablets with pre loaded info on them. I work for FedEx so we have to use their equipment.
If this was 100$ I would keep it and not care. Nothing has been taken out of the box all stickers,cords, paperwork is all there. I opened the box and looked at it.She said she thinks June 25 in the morning in Lebanon NH is where and when she got it. I am not asking for a full refund even 250.00 on a gift card would be ok. Thank you for your help

Thank you for getting back to me with this information.  If your mom is not comfortable using a computer, our phone support teams at 1-888-BESTBUY (1-888-237-8289) would be more than happy to gather her information and see if they can help to track down her receipt.  As outlined in our Return & Exchange Promise returns lacking a proof of purchase may be denied or limited, so we’ll want to locate her receipt to explore what options may be available.  Because she made the purchase, we’ll need to speak with her, in accordance with our Privacy Policy

My mom stayed on hold for 20 min. She was still waiting to talk to someone and gave up. She is old and not in the best health. She kept apologizing to me I told her not to worry I will just take the loss. Maybe I will be able to find someone to buy it. I tried for a couple days and got people trying to scam me that was all I got so far.

Thankyou very much for your time. I am not going to bother my mom with this anymore. It gets her all worked up. She thinks it's her fault. I am just going to try and figure out something. My luck she would have a stroke. Thank you for your help
