Re: PS5 sweepstake

I received a text message with Best Buy’s logo asking me to enter a sweepstake that is for selected members done every Monday. It’s for a FREE PS5. It’s too obvious of a scam. I wanted to put it out there for people who may come across this text message by “givegiftlove.com”. It also includes reviews from random people to make you believe it’s real. Then it asks you to pay $1.00 to some company for a 3day subscription!!! Best Buy should put a disclaimer that refutes this claim and warn your customers to avoid such scam. I tried googling this info and couldn’t find anything. PLEASE LET CONSUMERS KNOW ABOUT THIS SCAM!

Re: PS5 sweepstake

Hey, Naturalgal3,

Thanks for reaching out to us about this! I can certainly understand your concern, and while a free PS5 sounds awesome, Best Buy is not offering any sweepstakes for the console at this time. Thank you for letting us know about this.

Scammers can fake caller ID, name tags, receipts, and email address information which can trick people into thinking that they are legitimate. If you are ever asked for personal information or feel unsure about a call or text, you would want to hang up and call the business yourself to make sure that it was legitimate. These same general rules apply to emails, if something ever seems weird, or you are being asked to pay in a different currency, please contact the business directly.

We also have some pointers available on our forums that may help you to protect yourself in the future here.

Best,
