I am facing the same problem. I bought an item on 11/4 for $799 and it is on sale for $649. 

THEY TOLD ME TO BRING THE ITEM BACK TO THE STORE, RETURN IT and BUY IT AGAIN to get the sale price.

Just to follow up.

I took my receipt to Best Buy and they just refunded me the difference. I did not have to "return and re-purchase" the item. I was in and out in less than 3 minutes.

FYI The rules stand on price matching for the most part, so any exception you received if your item did not qualify may have been made by the store management or supervisor.
