Re: Citibank

I don’t think I’m in the boat by myself.  Last week I was going to buy a Verizon phone from Best Buy.  Verizon wouldn’t approve a credit app for phone service.  When I tried to purchase the phone from Verizon using my Best Buy Card, Verizon approved the credit app for phone service, but then I ran into a problem using my Best Buy credit card.  Citi Bank declined my purchase. I called Citi Bank, and they were suppose to take the hold off the Best Buy card.  This happened three times.  The last time I talked to someone from Citibank, they wanted my checking account number.  I could barely understand the person.  The customer service rep was calling from the Philippines.

Why would the rep need my checking account number?  I haven’t been late on a payment, and usually get the account paid down without a problem.  Like a lot of the people on this forum, I have purchased a lot of stuff from Best Buy.This is sorry way to treat a customer.

Re: Citibank

Hi, Nolecat1954,

Thanks so much for joining us at the Best Buy Community forums. I’m sorry for the poor experience you’ve had trying to get support for that credit card.

Have you tried reaching out to Citibank at (888) 574-1301 to discuss this? That’s the best number to reach them, so I want to be sure that you were contacting the right location, and the rep asking for a checking account number makes me fear that you may not have been in touch with the right people.

If calling that number doesn’t get you the support you need, please let me know.

Sincerely,

Kyle R|Social Media Specialist | Best Buy® Corporate
