Price match after purchase

So, I've many times done a chat session to price match after I bought something and it went on sale.  I bought a laptop that went on sale 2 days later, and did a chat session and was told they "initiated" the credit on my method of payment.  I didn't see it, so started another chat to ask about it.  Well, they told me they couldn't credit my credit card and instead issued a gift card that I was supposed to get via email.  A gift card that I cannot use to pay my credit card, purchase other gift cards (which is mostly what I buy there) and couldn't tell me if there was an expiration date or if I had to spend it all at once like rewards or even how to use it (how do I keep track of an email for a couple years, if it's still good?  They said whether I could use it multiple times depended on the balance.  huh?).  

 

This is totally unacceptable, a credit card can be credited!!!!!!!!!  Mostly what I buy at BB is gift cards, and I can't even do that!  The whole reason I had to buy the laptop was because of Geek Squad junking my son's laptop and instead of replacing it, gave me A GIFT CARD for $1500, instead of replacing it.  Because the laptop was now $1800 so I had to pay the difference, and then of course it went on sale two days later.  

 

So I have a gift card I don't need and $300 I have to pay off on the credit card for that gift card I won't use for god knows how many years because I can't buy Steam or Nintendo gift cards with it.  I am in the process of filling out a complaint to the MN Attorney General, I found this page while hunting for the corporate phone and address, and thought I'd post here as a warning.  I've had good luck with BB for decades, and the last couple years have gone downhill.  Stores don't answer the phones anymore, the automated phone sometimes just tells you they're too busy and hangs up on you.....  I'm done with them.  If anyone can help me here, maybe I'll rethink that, but I'd rather order a laptop from the manufacturer than go through this again.

Welcome to our Best Buy forum community! While I wish your reason for reaching out was a happier one, I appreciate you taking the time to create an account to share this experience with us!

 

Learning that you qualify for a Price Match should be a time of excitement, but I can understand how it wouldn't feel that way if you received the credit in the form of a gift card instead. I know I'd be confused by that as well, so I'm glad you brought this to our attention!

 

Our goal is to provide the best shopping experience possible, so it hurts to learn that hasn't been reflected in your time with us. However, we appreciate you sharing this feedback, as learning from the times we dropped the ball is how we can do better going forward.

 

As far as your questions regarding our gift cards go, they don't expire so you can use it when it works for you. As far as if it can be used multiple times, you can use it for as many transactions as you want until the balance has been used up. Hi,

Well, I went to the store for another reason today and they straightened it all out for me! Although I've had good luck with the chat feature, I think I'll do most things in person from now on. I'm very happy with my local store.
