Price Match

I recently purchased HyperX microphone from BB.

After purchasing, I found the same product for $40 less at Amazon and Target.

I contacted support by chat and by phone. I was denied the price match both times since according to BB, they are different products. I explained that they were the same product and according to the manufacturer, BB has combined the part number and model number into one number for the model number. This made it appear to the BB agent that they were different products. I purchased the cheaper product from Amazon, but wanted to bring it to Bestbuy’s attention so it can be corrected. I purchase a lot of products from BB every year, and have priced matched in the past when the item went on sale at BB, but I feel like the price match with competitors is pretty much a scam. If it was $5 I probably wouldn’t worry about it, but for $40 difference, it was worth my time to return the BB product and purchase the one from a competitor. If BB doesn’t like to honor the price match, just remove that program so it doesn’t feel like I’m being scammed.
I also have a pic of both items side by side and they are identical right down to the barcode.

4P5P7AA Is the SKU according to the manufacturers website. HMIQ1S-XX-RG/G Is the model number. Bestbuy combined both of these numbers on the model number line so it shows 4P5P7AA/HMIQ1S-XX-RG/G whereas Amazon only lists it as HMIQ1S-XX-RG/G. I am simply pointing out that since BB has added the sku number to the model number within their system it is confusing.
The BB order is already being shipped back to them since the nearest BB to me is about 2 hours away.

I was happy to hear that you wished to avail yourself of Best Buy's Price Match Guarantee, but less than joyous to read that you encountered complications in the process. While I certainly understand your having gone to a competitor to get the better price, it was certainly not the outcome for which we hoped.


Our ability to price match is governed by the model number as it appears on, and while I understand your explanation, our agent would not have been able to fulfill your request since the information between our competitor and our site did not exactly match. 


Nonetheless, I am grateful you have brought your experience to our attention and am truly happy that you were able to get the product at a price you liked. Thank you taking the time to write to us.
