I went to my local best buy this morning on my break to purchase a new modem, the Netgear CM1200. Newegg had the price listed for $164.99 and the Best Buy price was $219.99. I figured I would price match, to take advantage of having a Best Buy Credit Card and get me a little closer to Elite Plus. I go into store and grab the item. I show the cashier the Newegg website and he says he has to ask a manager if they'll price match Newegg. The manager says they can't price match Newegg. I show him the Best Buy website where Newegg is specifically listed. He then shows me their internal site (something like Core Blue, but that could be wrong) and clicks on a price match button and the only site that shows is Wal-Mart where the price was $229.99.
I leave the store without the modem. I get back to work, and I login online and speak with Chat Support. I give them the link to Newegg, and they price match in a matter of minutes for store pickup.
Is this the normal procedure? The website says for in store price matching to find any blue shirt and show them the website. I did. But apparently they have an internal website that only allows them to price match certain stores? I figured in person price match would be easier, but I am a little annoyed by the whole situation. Has anyone else dealt with anything like this?

Thanks for joining us on the Best Buy Forums, welcome to the community! I appreciate you reaching out about this and I'm happy to provide some insight. Per our Price Match Guarantee you should have gotten this price match completed in store. I wouldn't be able to speak as to why this wasn't done for you, but I'm sorry for the inconvenience. I can imagine what a hassle that was when you specifically went in for the price match!
Can you send us a private message with your full name, email, and phone number so that I can dig into this a bit more and document this instance at the corporate level?
Looking forward to hearing from you,
