After sending in my Apple Watch for a refund, I was sent back the watch with instructions to unpair the watch because it was locked.
I used my iphone to unpair the watch, and this seems to have reset it also. Do I also now need to erase its data, or was this done automatically? I cannot follow the steps under "factory reset" in the instructions because the watch is now unpaired.

Your Apple Watch may be linked to your Apple ID. This allows you to locate items throught the "Find My" feature on your phone. If the watch is associated with your Apple ID you need to remove this device from your account.
