Possible fraud - need assistance

[ Edited ]

Hi
I got an email saying i have purchased an applecare and some other stuff from your brooklyn branch. This is not something i did and i am not even in the usa.
The total amount is 2934.37 and was done by member id {removed per forum guidelines} by a Pablo {removed per forum guidelinesusing a us debit card ending with {removed per forum guidelines}.
I want to make sure that no kne is using me name or my details while purchasing in best buy. I didnt even have an account until now created to handle this issue.

I am getting more emails about the same purchase and i am deeply concerned. Please fix this and contact me.

Thank you

Hello Amazingwolf,

Welcome to the Best Buy forum! I can imagine it would be very scary to see an email come through with information for an order you didn’t place. Privacy and security are really important to Best Buy as well, as you can see on the Privacy Hub here; it is very appreciated that you let us know about this situation.

From what you say in your message, I’m glad to hear that it sounds like your card wasn’t used on the order. Beyond that, in terms of wanting to be sure your information wasn’t used to place the order, the member ID you provided does not match the name provided during your forum registration. With that in mind, it’s possible that another customer mistyped their email during checkout so that their order update emails went to the wrong recipient. To that end, I would advise that you contact the Best Buy privacy manager at PrivacyManager@bestbuy.com. They may be able to prevent any further emails by updating our systems. I hope this helps!

Thank you,
