I need advice as I am quite confused. Last month I purchased a washer/dryer and opened a Best Buy Credit Card to pay for it. At the time I opened the card, I selected the option of payment in full so I could get the 10% back in rewards credits. The full payment is now due. When I called yesterday to check on the status of delivery, the delivery had been moved from October to mid November as the item is now on back order. I called the BB Credit Card Billing department and asked what my options were because why should I pay $2500 now when I will not get the item for another 7 weeks. The agent told me that I needed to make a payment as to not incur interest (which didn't make sense given what I selected when I opened the card). After that I can then dispute the charge. First, that did not make sense. Because the end result would be that you are then stuck with a $2500 BB credit versus the actual washer/dryer. Secondly, there was no confirmation that if I disputed the charge, the order would not be cancelled. Can you not dispute the charge in advance solely on the basis because of the delay without it cancelling your order?

Unless a Best Buy staff cancels your order, then it is a valid charge. Cancellation is supposed to automatically occur if there is over 30 days of backorder or you are supposed to receive an email asking if you still want to keep or cancel.
Maybe moderators can help you in this instance. However a minimum payment would be required to prevent a ding to your credit for late payment purposes. In the end you do get your refund eventually then you can request CitiBank to send you your payment refund back in the form of a check.

Thanks for reaching out about this. Often, our customers prefer to receive My Best Buy rewards back for purchases they’ve made. Payments would need to be made, in effort to avoid any additional charges or blemishes on your credit report, regardless if the merchandise has been received.
For information on how disputes would be handled, it would be best to reconnect with Best Buy Credit Card support through Citibank at (888) 574-1301. You can find details on how payments are calculated, and what fees may be applied, within the Terms and Conditions.
I hope this guides you to the best place for further support with your line of credit. If you have questions regarding your order, please send a Private Message, where we can gather the details to access your purchase history.
