hello. I just want to know if this sounds normal or happens from time to time. I got a new PC and as I am setting up my chrome browser and then go to the Best Buy website to log in with my saved password, it immediately tells me that my password is incorrect and then sends me an email with the verification code to reset my password. In my email, there are no links so i did not click anything. Just the verification code. It also did include my name in the email and said due to many unsuccessful password reset requests, that my acct is locked and gave me the verification code to use on the website.

Prior to this, I have never received any kind of emails like this from Best Buy. So i am wondering if the logging in with a new PC somehow glitched the system and forced me to reset my password and then send me that email right away even though it said multiple unsuccessful password reset requests. I did use the verification code and I was able to proceed on the website. Nothing looks wrong with my acct either. 

the email came from bestbuyinfo@emailinfo.bestbuy.com. The encryption on the email was signed by emailinfo.bestbuy.com, so it did look like the legit emails as well.

Welcome to the Best Buy Forums!

I had a similar situation a few years ago with some of my accounts after I built a new computer. It is possible that the website sees us sign in from a brand new browser installation so a reset is triggered. If everything looks normal on your account I wouldn't be concerned. The from address and encryption address are both Best Buy domains so all of that looks legitimate!

thanks for the info. I did also check my email account for unknown acctivity and all was well there too. So I will chalk it up to being the Best Buy website that probably tripped with a new browser/PC. 

It did kinda freak me out though, so I will refrain from provinding the info you asked for via this forum. Thanks again though, I appreciate the response
