Orby TV - DVR Receiver

Purchased a Orby TV DVR receiver in January, 2021. Found out at the end of February Orby closed their business. After waiting for install barely 30 days of use out of receiver that is now 100% useless. Have contacted Bear Buy by phone. Spoke to many departments who all say past the 15 day return period, sorry not sorry. Absolutely ridiculous. Orby is refunding customers who purchased in the last couple months. Only reason we purchased through Best Buy was for the Geek Squad protection. Waited on hold for 40 minutes yesterday to have a manager call me today. Never called. I want a refund or to return a receiver that was sold for the use with a business who no longer exists!! Come on Best Buy, support your customers in a terrible situation, customers who have purchased from you for years!!! And only got the service to try and save money in a terrible situation in a world that’s a mess. Don’t have money to just throw away on something that doesn’t work.

Welcome to our forums, and thank you for sharing your experience with us.  It’s disappointing to hear the manufacturer of the TV receiver you purchased with us has gone out of business, especially considering this was a fairly recent purchase for you.

 

You mention speaking with our other support teams regarding this matter, and it sounds like the information they’ve provided is correct.  Our Return & Exchange Promise offers our customers the ability to return most products to us within a 15-day return/exchange period, so while I understand this may not have been the answer you were hoping for, we’ll be unable to offer you an exception to this policy.

 

With that said, there are still a few options available to you going forward.  If you haven’t done so yet, I recommend continuing to work with Orby to explore your options in receiving the refund they’ve offered you, and I’m optimistic they’ll be able to assist further.  In regards to your Geek Squad Protection (GSP) for the receiving, I would recommend connecting with our Geek Squad directly at 1-800-433-5778, to request your GSP be cancelled, as you may qualify for a prorated refund of this GSP.
