Open Box return refused in store

Hi,

I am trying to return a defective open box laptop that I purchased online at bestbuy.com

However my local store is saying they cannot accept the return in store and I must mail it in to return the item.

Is it not possible to return open box online purchases to brick and motor stores?

Just wanted to add that I have all accessories that came with the laptop.

I don't see anything that would exclude you from returning to a store. Only in one instance. If you had your order delivered to a third party place, let's say a UPS Access point or other delivery area other than your home thats a Fed Ex Office and so forth you would have to return it through the mail or whatever carrier you choose. If this is the case Best Buy should be providing you with a free label per the return and exchange policy. It says you will get free shipping on your return.
