My Best Buy experience is an ongoing nightmare

Back in June, we purchased an open-box "excellent" fridge. When we got the fridge, it was rated improperly, as it had scratches on the front, missing a foot, and a drip tray, and the water dispenser stopped working. I tried calling customer service. They sent me in to the store. I went in to the store. They told me to call customer service. I finally got help on this forum, so I am hoping this works again.

I decided I no longer wanted the refrigerator because I didn't even want to look at it. Anyway, Best Buy picked up the fridge on July 5th. I signed for the removal of the fridge.

The big surprise I got today was an email saying that I had a PAST DUE BALANCE ON MY BEST BUY CREDIT CARD, when the only purchase I had was this fridge. Did they think that I just didn't want the fridge but still wanted to pay for it??

So, I called citi regarding this issue, because I was under the impression that I was free and clear at this point- had no clue that I had still been charged for the refrigerator. Surely they have a record of picking this fridge up from my house, like I said, there was a thing that I signed before they left. SO, why is the charge still on the card??? Now I have a mark on my credit. An absolute nightmare to try talking to customer service on the phone.

Re: My Best Buy experience is an ongoing nightmare

Even if you purchased something on your Best Buy credit card you are legally still responsible for payments until the balance clears and gets returned to you at which point Citibank can send you a refund check for the credit amount back to your card if it comes down to that, providing it's the only thing you charged to that card.

Re: My Best Buy experience is an ongoing nightmare

Hello,

Welcome to our forums! Having a credit issue can be a concern, so I understand wanting to get this cleared up.
I’ll be happy to take a closer look into this matter and offer any additional assistance I can, however, I’m hoping you can provide me with a few pieces of additional information before I’m able to do so.  If you could use the blue “Private Message” button in my signature to send me:

• Your first and last name
• Your phone number
• Your email address

Your order number

This should be enough for me to begin my research, and hopefully get you the assistance you’re looking for.

Regards,

Re: My Best Buy experience is an ongoing nightmare

I just didn't realize there was a balance at all since I had returned the item so, I missed my payment date.

I made a payment to bring my account back current. I guess I will have to wait and see if I will end up paying for this refrigerator that I returned to the store and no longer have.
