Cards are like cash and they can be replaced if you have information.
Does your friend still have the purchase information?

You can certainly try. But if you are not the original purchaser you may run into issues. The best way to go about it is to call Best Buy and see if they can help you with this. If you are not the original purchaser and they have issues with that whomever bought the GC may have to call instead.
The same issues apply to getting assistance from the forums, and you may have to have the GC purchaser sign up on the forums if Best Buy asks so.
This is for security reasons.

Hello, ckl233519,
Thanks for signing up for an account here at the Best Buy Community forums. I've lost a gift card before, and it is always disappointing.
As hockeycanuckjc mentioned, we are only able to provide a replacement to the original purchaser. As noted in the Terms & Conditions, only the remaining balance on that card can be reissued.
Please have the original purchaser reach out here to see if that card can be reissued.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Sincerely,
