I purchased a Best Buy gift card from a grocery store, but I lost it. I have the original purchase receipt, and the gift card number. Can I get this card replaced?
I tried going to the grocery store, but they said they can't do anything since it's a gift card.
Please help! Thank you.

Hello, frekwentflier,
Thanks for joining us at the Best Buy Community forums. I appreciate you taking the time to reach out about this. I've lost my share of gift cards in the past, and it is always a bad experience.
Under our Privacy Policy, we are only able to discuss a gift card with the original purchaser. We can only validate the original purchaser when the gift card was bought from us directly, and not through a third-party retailer.
That said, there’s a change we could help you out over the phone if you call (888) 716-7994. I can’t guarantee that we’ll be able to replace the remaining value on that card, but it is worth a shot giving us that call.
Sincerely,

Nothing on the gift card packaging indicates this is a policy. The packaging itself states, "Lost, stolen, or damaged card replaced only with a valid proof of purchase to the extent of the remaining card balance." It does not say that it has to be a Best Buy receipt.
How can Best Buy sell these cards in other stores, and not support them?

Hi, frekwentflier,
As I mentioned, our Privacy Policy will only allow me to work with the person who we can verify made that purchase. You may reach out to the phone number I listed above to see if our phone support teams can assist you directly.
Sincerely,
