Issues with GPU purchase policy

Hello, I've been trying to reach someone in support since last Friday regarding a situation I need help with.

Your rep on Twitter told me to send my name, cb info, and totaltech# but no one has reached out yet.

Backstory: I purchased a GPU for myself back on Jan 20th, and came in to try and purchase one for my wife on March 3rd. I waited in line for 2 hours only to be told I wasn't allowed to purchase one due to policy. They made me feel like a criminal, just for trying to purchase a GPU for my wife.

This is not fair to working families such as mine. This is your last chance to make this right. If we can't start some sort of communication, not only will I cancel total tech, you permanently lose me as a customer, and I'll do my best to share this story far and wide and hopefully prevent other people from shopping at best buy.

I STILL cannot believe they wouldn't sell me one GPU considering I only have ONE GPU purchase on my account. I'm just a dude trying to play PC games together with his wife.

Please reach out.

Re: Issues with GPU purchase policy

Hey, SHAMMOND1,

We appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us here on our forum, and on Twitter. I can of course understand your concerns if this store did not handle this as you expected them to. Every employee of Best Buy should remain professional when interacting with one of our customers. I can say that as a company we only allow one specific GPU to be purchased per household, and that would be why this store did not allow you to purchase a second one for your household. There are no exceptions to this, and we would not be able to provide you with a second one of this GPU.

I would like to forward on your feedback to the leadership of this store and would expect they will take any steps they deem appropriate in this matter. Can you send me a private message with your name, phone number, email address, and order number? To send me a private message simply click on the message button in my signature.

Thanks,

Re: Issues with GPU purchase policy

One per household??? I don't see this policy listed anywhere, and I KNOW a lot of people recently purchased multiple during a recent online drop.

Is this a new policy? It seems like I got screwed over by not purchasing multiple online like others did.

Re: Issues with GPU purchase policy

Also I was trying to purchase a different SKU. I purchased a 3080 in Jan and was trying to purchase a 3060ti for my wife.

Like I said, this policy doesn't make any sense for families. I WILL be sharing my experience with media outlets. This policy needs to change.

Re: Issues with GPU purchase policy

Hey, SHAMMOND1,

Thanks for the quick response here. Per our Terms and Conditions posted to our website "...At any time after receipt of your order, we may accept, decline, or place quantity or other limits on your order for any reason. We may impose these limits on a per-person, per-household, per-order, or any other basis." I do see the message you sent me, and I will be replying to that shortly.

Thanks,

Re: Issues with GPU purchase policy

Allan,

As a matter of fact, the Terms and Conditions posted to your website only applies to the website.

The Terms and Conditions specifically state, "Additional or separate terms may apply to your interactions with other Best Buy websites, Best Buy or Geek Squad® locations", They do NOT state that the terms apply to interactions with Best Buy Locations.

According to your Terms and Conditions, the Terms and Conditions DO NOT state that they apply to in-store interactions.

Re: Issues with GPU purchase policy

Hey, SHAMMOND1,

Thanks for the feedback on our Terms and Conditions. Our stores typically hold to what is stated on our website. I can confirm that our stores can refuse a sale for any reason, and are not required to complete any sale.

Thanks,

Ok, thanks for the help. I'll be cancelling total tech, and I will never step foot in best buy again.

Re: Issues with GPU purchase policy

Allan- tried to PM, apparently there is a PM limit:

They're following policy so what does it matter?

Look, person to person dude, this sucks. I just want to buy a GPU for my wife. I had the opportunity and it was ripped out of my hands due to this souless corpo-policy.

If you can empathize with that, please escalate this to someone who can change this policy.

How are families such as mine supposed to game together when I can't even get a 2nd GPU one whole month after purchasing one?

I'm not looking for anything free or any discounts, I literally wanted to pay MSRP for ONE card.
