Well over 20 years ago I had a little issue with Best Buy.
I made a purchase in a Best Buy store. The cashier was busy talking to her co-worker, and apparently didn't deactivate the security device. When I walked out the door after paying, there was about 4 or 5 other people exiting at the same time. The security alarm went off, and I assumed that it wasn't me as I had just paid for my purchase. I found out seconds later that it was me when a security man tackled me on the parking lot. After being detained there for about 45 minutes, I was allowed to leave with my purchase - I guess because I demanded my purchase or a refund.
I wrote to corporate headquarters, and received a letter telling me that "people like me" cost Best Buy several hundred thousand dollars per year, and that they did not want me back in any of their stores. I am not the smartest guy in the world, and didn't understand Best Buy's distaste for paying customers - so I wrote again - but never got a response.
I have posted several times on this forum about this issue only to have the posts removed by a moderator. I cannot find an e-mail address to write to corporate headquarters, and phone calls lead nowhere.
I am only asking to be allowed to come back in Best Buy stores. The letter I received was very clear about the contempt for me,and "people like me". But I imagine that Best Buy doesn't want my money, and I expect this post to be deleted within an hour.

That's definitely a crazy reaction from them. Makes me wonder, after all this time, do you think they even remember you? How would they know? It's not like they have your picture on the wall. Even if they have your name, so what? Many people have the same name. Also. Masks.
Did the letter you received specifically stated you're not allowed on their property and would be prosecuted? Or just like you said, something about not wanting you to come in?

Andrew - I attempted to send you a private message, but the message board wouldn't let me.
I saw a TV that I wanted on your website, but this situation made me think I better get it elsewhere. I have no idea what records and for how long Best Buy keeps them, but using my debit card with Best Buy would show I shopped there.
I have been trying for years to resolve this issue, but every time I run into dead ends. Mail messages unanswered, phones being hung up on me, forum posts deleted. You are probably just like me - a man doing his job - so you or I apologizing for the way the big bosses act is not very effective. So at this point, I am figuring that it is an unresolvable issue. Or maybe I'm just being oversensitive for being treated like and called a criminal when I did nothing wrong?

Thank you for following up with me. Can you please provide some more details about the problems you are having sending a private message? We have some troubleshooting steps here that can usually resolve these problems. HAve you been able to clear your browser's cache and cookies?
