Gift card

I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at the best buy store and with the corporate line they call customer service. We received 2 gift cards for Christmas from my in laws because we bought a new home. When we went to use the cards ($250) on an $8,000 purchase we were surprised to hear the cards had never been activated. So we collected the purchase receipt for his parents and went back to the store. Then issues began. We were told the cards had been refunded. Then we were told they had been used prior to us even recieving them for Christmas. So when I asked how the cards were used without the pin number on the back even being scratched off the whole story changed again. They called corporate and then said they could not see the transactions only that one of the cards had been used about a week ago for the full $150. Well imagine my surprise at this especially because the card was only purchased for $125. Then the assistant store manager accused of us using the card and lying about it. Really??? So when did we use it and what did we buy, how did we use it without scratching off the pin? Their reply, oh we don't have access to see that. How do they not have access to see the cards transaction history? I would love to speak to a best but internal loss prevention officer. I can tell you this feels like either internal or like best buy was hacked and they are not wanting to explain either or make the situation right.
I am very disappointed and now stuck with a decision to make. Do I return everything we just bought because it does not feel like we are dealing with reputable individuals. Such a shame.

Re: Gift card

Hi there, Alidoshish,

Welcome to our community.  I love giving and receiving gift cards for any occasion, but I’m sure hearing multiple reasons as to why I couldn’t redeem them would leave me feeling rather frustrated.  You have my apologies for any inconvenience this situation created for you and your husband.

Gift cards are treated like cash and cannot have their balances reinstated once they’ve been depleted, but I would still like to look into this for you to see if there are any options available at this time.  If you will please send me a private message that includes the below information, I would be happy to see what I can do to help.

Full name

Email address

Phone number

Full gift card number (do not include the PIN)

Customer Service Pin from the bottom of the activation receipt(s)

To send me a private message, just click on the blue button in my signature below labeled “Private Message”.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Re: Gift card

I will send you the information you ask for however, how can the card be used if the back had not been scratched off?

Re: Gift card

Hi there, Alidoshish,

Fraudsters are becoming increasingly clever in their ways these days, but I don’t want to jump to conclusions here.  I’ll be happy to take a closer look at these gift cards once you’re able to compile the information above and send it my way.

Thanks,
