Gift Card Refund

My friends gifted me their Best Buy gift cards to make a large purchase. The order was under my name but was shipped to the wrong address and I ended up cancelling the order. I received refunds on the cards in my name, however the remainder of the cards weren't refunded although Best Buy emailed showing they had been. When I called to inquirie as to what happened to the money since it was never put back on the cards I was told the original purchasers would have to call and submit proof of purchase. That isn't feasible for some of them. The cards are all in my possession and the purchase was completed under my account only. How is this possible that Best Buy can just keep the funds? The cards were gifts. I find it hard to believe that every person who requests a refund on a gift card has to go back to the gift giver to get the refund. That's inappropriate.

Re: Gift Card Refund

Hello, patricerc,

Thanks for reaching out!

When it comes to gift cards, it is generally a requirement that the purchaser of these to reach out for a refund or replacement of the cards. However, if you are still in possession of the gift cards, the refund would go back to the original payment method and work as they did prior to the purchase.

Re: Gift Card Refund

Hello and thank you for your quick response. They initially said they would refund all the cards, and I actually received an email. Stating they had, but the cards never were refunded, and although I've been on the phone with them for a few days and many hours over this. They refuse to refund the cards due to the policy. I have tried to get this rectified, but they refuse. Unfortunately, unless you can offer me a solution, I will have to take them to court. It's almost $1,400.
