Re: Geek Squad scam??

just a head's up, scammers are also doing phone calls offering to "refund" your auto renewal of your protection plan if you go to your computer so they cn send you a form for you to fill out with your information, to the amount of $399.99. The caller had a very heavy Indian/Pkastani accent so it was hard to understand him. He got very belligerant when I kept insisting that he confirm my information rather than give him any info. He finally said if I didn't want to go to my computer and give him information I could hang up on him, then he hung up on me. The phone call came from a Massachusetts phone number, probably spoofed, on 09/14/2020

Re: Geek Squad scam??

Good afternoon, piggydaisy,

Welcome to our forums, and thank you for sharing your experience with us.  After receiving an email confirming your renewal of a service you never subscribed to in the first place, I can certainly understand your cause for concern.

Although we’ve removed the phone number and “confirmation” number contained within your email, these numbers do not appear to be associated with Best Buy or Geek Squad in any way.  Going forward, I recommend avoiding following any links contained within the email you’ve received, and If you haven’t done so yet, I would double check your credit card statements as well, to dispute any suspicious charges you might be seeing on your accounts.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Regards,

SeanM|Social Media Specialist | Best Buy® Corporate
