A few days ago, I purchased a 7-outlet GE Advanced Surge Protector. If I plug something in to outlet 5 or 6, there is no power to outlet 7. Should I return this product for a replacement?
Yes? Assuming your not over loading it and it's smart enough to know that.
In general the best buy for surge protectors is the cheapest one with the highest joule rating. They only work until the amount of energy they can transfer is used up. That is the joule rating. Other features are just fluff. Generally they need replaced every couple years anyway. They are also completely useless on non grounded outlets.
