Fraud at our store

Hi, I attempted to find an email address so that this could be handled not in the public light but found out this is how one must report such things.

I experienced fraudulent activity at your store at 11200 W Broad St Glen AllenVA  today.  We brought in our flatscreen 50" TV for recycling and was told that there was a $25.00 charge for all monitors.  I showed her the page on your website (https://www.bestbuy.com/site/services/recycling/pcmcat149900050025.c?id=pcmcat149900050025), which states, "Flat-panel TVs: LCD, plasma, LED smaller than 50" are subject to the $25 charge.  She read the page and stated all monitors are subject to fees at that location.  No manager was provided to explain why the store charges fees differently than what is stated.  The person watching the door was given the option to get a manager as well, he opted for us to leave not wanting to shop with Best Buy again.

Not fraud. Monitors are subject to the fee as well.

Re: Fraud at our store

From the computers and tablets section of the link you provided:

“Products we recycle for a $25 fee per item:
Limit two monitors per household per day.

Monitors”

Both TVs and monitors require the same charges to offset the costs Best Buy incurs to safely recycle those items. Both types of products have essentially the same toxic components inside and require significantly more effort to process.
I am a Best Buy Employee, but the views that I post are my own and not that of Best Buy.

Re: Fraud at our store

So, a 50" flat screen TV is considered a monitor now? Under the TV tab, like I said in the original post it says under 50" is the fee not 50 amd over. That is fraud.

Re: Fraud at our store

You completely missed the point. As jdogg said, both require the same charge as they have potentially toxic components inside that need to be processed in a particular way.

It isn’t fraud. Still.

You completely missed the the point. The wording on the website says that TVs 50" and over aren't subject to a charge. At this point it immaterial. Best Buy has lost another customer now due to this.
