Filed a police report need surveilance

I have filed a police report. The store asked me to contact: LawEnforcement <lawenforcement@bestbuy.com> to obtain security footage, but they are not responding. 

Please Help.

Only law enforcement can obtain footage, asking you to attempt to do so was incorrect.

Seems like it's set up in a way to only be able to get footage from a murrder!
Which cop is going top spend time to request footage for credit card fraud and theft?

Not really, for obvious reasons the Law Enforcement team only provides footage to LEOs. Best Buy cooperates with any investigation and will assist however they can. For security reasons, that footage isn’t just released to anyone who asks.

Before switching over to Custom Services, I routinely assisted in archiving and providing footage for my store. This was usually a detective involved in the financial crimes division of our local PD, but branched out into several suburban police departments as well. They were almost always investigating credit card/check fraud, but also fake id’s and various other issues as well. If your local PD doesn’t investigate crime, that’s more of an indictment of the department than a retailer not releasing security footage to just anybody. You never mentioned what the issue was, but if it requires security footage why would the police not investigate?

Welcome to the Best Buy Community Forums. I certainly understand wanting to find assistance regarding a concern over credit card fraud and wanting to learn what you can do to help. jdogg836 has provided a wonderful insight into what processes our store teams use when working with law enforcement to ensure that you are protected. You will need to file the appropriate claims with your card issuer, bank, and local law enforcement office. From there, those teams will investigate on your behalf, and reach out to the store team as necessary to obtain footage or other information needed to complete their work.
