Defective product

 

On April 4, 2019, I bought 1 set of 16gb (2x8gb) memory at the Best Buy store (in Coral Gables-Miami-USA). However, on my return to Brazil, when installing memory, only one comb is working. I already did all the combination tests between the slots, but it still did not work. I reinforce that the problem is not the motherboard because it is working with the 8GB of the set and 4GB of the one I had before my acquisition.

 

Machine Configuration Motherboard: Asus A320M - Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 1400 Quad-Core - Memory 8bg Corsair Vengeance LPX 2400hz - Video Card: MSI RTX 2060 6gb Gaming Z (Same day purchase at Best Buy).

Products that are purchased in the USA are intended for use in the USA and compatibility on hardware from other countries may not be guaranteed due to voltage differences and so forth.

 

But memory modules for the most part seem to be universal with the exception that some modules will only work on some motherboards, others on others. Voltage, bus speed and all that fancy stuff.

 

The only way you can resolve the defect is to return to a Best Buy store or contact the manufacturer in your locale for help 

 

Best Buy cannot help with sending you replacements if you live in an international locale, especially if you purchased in the store.

Thanks very much for joining us at the Best Buy Community forums. Adding RAM to a computer is a great way to get more speed out of it. I’m sorry that one stick isn’t working for you.

 

Under our Return & Exchange Promise, that RAM should have a 15-day return window. It sounds like you are no longer in the country, however, and we do not have any international return options as all products we sell are intended for use in the United States. Please see this for additional details.

 

If you can’t make that return, your next step is to reach out to the manufacturer directly. If you can’t find their contact information, please let me know the brand of the RAM. I’ll see if I can find it for you.
