On 05/04/2019 my wife and I went to the Willowbrook, Houston TX, location for her car stereo. After working with a rep regarding that I decided that I would look at a new phone for myself. Working with a rep named Michael it was determined that my account with the cell phone provider could only be handled by a corporate store. During this conversation Michael wrote my number, zip code, and PIN on a sheet of paper. After realizing he could not handle my account he threw the paper in a trash can behind the counter. This is completely unacceptable, as with the phone number and PIN anyone could call into the customer care line of the service provider and order products or services on my account. I did not authorize Michael to write down my information like that, especially since no transaction was taking place. This is a major customer privacy and information protection issue. I had to immidiately return home and change my PIN just to make sure noone else would have access to my account, taking time out of our plans for the day. I have attempted to work with the bestbuy.com website to file a complaint, however there is no direct contact field to request a call or follow up.
Please address this issue with the store and employees, as I cannot be the only one who this has happened to. I will also be addressing this with the service provider as they need to know that customer information is not being protected at the BestBuy location.

I can imagine how worrying it was to see your confidential information thrown in the trash. I'm sorry this happened to you. We would love to document your experience, and followup on any coaching/training opportunities that may be present. You provided us with almost all the information needed to do this! Lastly, we would just need your full name, email address, and phone number linked to your My Best Buy Account. Would you be able to send that information to us via Private Message, by utilizing the button in my signature?
