Complaint

Accidentally purchased a DIGITAL Nintendo switch game instead of the physical game. I never activated it and do not plan to, yet Best Buy refuses to refund my purchase. It was a mistake. Best Buy should do the right thing and refund my purchase. Very angry

Unfortunately with digital purchases there is no way to unmake the code generated by Nintendo and Best Buy has already paid for it.

This is the reason that it is included in the “final sale” items on our returns promise, we want everyone to be aware that these items are not refundable.

Hope this clears up why it is non-returnable.

The same thing happened to me. Easy mistake to make on the website. Customer service was useless. Chatted with a rep and a supervisor. Supervisor suggested contacting Customer Service via phone. Close to an hour hold time.  As a courtesy, a company that values it's customers should credit back the payment. Noticed that Nintendo themselves has credited back to customers when an error like this is made. Next course of action, disputing with credit card company, using social media

I agree 100%. Thank you! Your comment is very helpful! At least to make me feel less like I’m crazy. But same horrible experience— 1 hour on the phone with customer service and they refused to make it right.

The same thing happened to me. I was told by an onbline agent that it could be exchanged if a I went to a store. Nope! I get the impression that this happens alot, and do not accept the explanation regarding why it is a "final sale". Fix the process so it can be canceled up to the time the code is redeemed. There is even an image of the physical copy for the digital one. Additional messaging online is needed if Best Buy is going to make these final sales. This was indended to be a gift, and now is a complete waste of money. Best Buy has lost a customer for life.
