Ok so today i went to buy a camera but was told my Best Buy Credit card was closed. I have made at least one purchase every year i have had the card to keep it active.
It came at a surprise to me that it was closed. When i called they told me that my last purchase was in 2017 but i had travelled a hr and a half to best buy in 2018 and purchased a candy bar. I asked to get it reactivated but was told i have to reapply. I then asked if i reapply how many points would i acrue from this incuary. They tranfered me 4 different time and couldnt givr me a answer to both what my credit score has to be or how many points will come from this.
Is there any way to reactivate this card without reapplying and is their a reason why my last purchase didnt show up on their records? I dont want a hard inquiry on my record to reactivate this card.

Unfortunately I have not heard of a way to just reactivate the card. They'll have to run it again - however many points come off your score for it depends on how many inquiries you currently have on the report. There's no set deduction for a inquiry, if you have a lot you'll take a hit. If you have none then it may not affect it at all.

When i got the card i was told that as long as i made a purchase with the card it would stay open. I fullfilled my end of the agreement buying a candy bar with the card and then paying it off at the front in August or September of 2018.
The problem is they closed my account in April. If it has hit my credit report that will drop my credit because a account has been closed it could be anywhere from 15-20 points when this happens and my score has fluctuated between 705-720 for the last couple years. So if my score drops 15-20 points my score will be between 685-705 right now. I need to know what they will accept a 680 or else when i reapply for the card i will lose another 10-15 points. Droping me to aprox 670 for six months intel the hard inquiry drops with nothing to show for it

I havent had any inquiries in the last couple years i think. I might have one from when i applied for a oil rig job but that was 3 years ago. I do have a medical bill in collections for $90 that i am fighting but other than that there shouldnt be anything else on my record. All my payments are automatic so i dont worry about anything being late.

Once an account is closed, I’m not aware of any way to get it re-activated. Have you reached out to Citibank, N.A., the company that issues the My Best Buy Credit Cards? They are best positioned to help you out and answer your questions. They can be reached at (888) 574-1301.

There isnt anything else you can help me with. This whole thing has just been a nightmare. I was lied to when i contacted Citibank. They told me that they sent me a email about the card being cancelled this never happened, i had asked for a email and mail notification though incase one failed when i got the card but i was lied to and told i could only choose one, and they mysteriously didnt have record of me buying a candy bar last year around August or September. I got a new best buy card a week ago and was given this option for email and mail notification and now the camera i just bought with my card is defective (light meter doesnt work properly) but the store wants a restocking fee so i am sending it directly back to canon because its defective and they don't want a defective camera resold and personaly best buy shouldn't either. Canon is doing this for free and since i just barely bought it and they might even send me the next model up.

I have a new respect for Canon but my Respect for Best Buy is dwindling by the day.
