I had a really positive experience with a Customer Service representative in my local Best Buy store in Hixson, TN tonight. I had gone in to buy an HDMI cable for my work computer and had my University of TN Chattanooga procurement card and my Best Buy Tax exempt card. When I went to check out the sales rep told me my tax exempt card had expired and I would need to go to customer service. The guy at the desk, whose name was Jake, was extremely helpful, personable, and resourceful. He confirmed that the tax exemption had expired. I was able to pull up a copy of the tax exempt form on my phone but when I tried to email it to him so he could reactivate the tax exemption, your system wouldn’t accept the email with the link to the form. He came up with the bright idea of taking a screen shot which wouldn’t have occurred to me. I was able to email the screen shot to him which he them printed and was able to reactive my tax exemption. This all happened about an hour before the store closed on a Saturday night. He could have been dismissive, or told me to come back with a hard copy of the form. it would have been a major nuisance to have had to make an extra trip back to the store during the week and I would have had to do without the cable I needed. 


Service like that is far too rare. Thanks to Jake at the Hixson Best Buy Customer Service for making my experience a good one. 


I will say that it took me way too long to figure out a way to give a commendation on the Best Buy website. I finally had to use the contact us link and chat with someone who gave me a link to comment on their website - which let me type a lengthy response and then threw an internal error when I tried to submit the form. Go figure... maybe they should let Jake take a look at it. But at least I found this forum. Hopefully someone will read this and maybe let his district manager or his boss or someone know that he’s doing a good job.
