Citi Bank's Hard Credit Card Pull Policy for Increase to Credit Limit

As a Best Buy credit card user since 2015 with a solid purchase and payment history an increase to the credit card limit to purchase a 2021 TV should not require a hard credit card pull.  I'm writing to disagree with the Citi Bank policy.  I have two recommendations; the first is to allow for an incremental increase, say $1000, per request and the second is to review the history of the card, purchases and payments, along with the reason for the increase.  Best Buy you need to work with Citi Bank to find an acceptable solution where customer service has an option to keep your customers.  Change the Citi Bank policy.  The policy for a hard credit card pull by Citi Bank hurts Best Buy.  The decision to either accept the hard pull or cancelling the card was a difficult one.  Cancelling the card is best for me.

 

I read many of the customer service posts including general topics.  I think Best Buy has been an awesome store, experience, and speaking to customer service was better than most.  Twice in five years I used the no interest for 12 or 24 months to pay for a TV.  Best Buy has great promotions and reasons to shop at your store.  I just don't know where I am going to buy my next TV now.

Welcome to our forums!  Regardless of your method of payment, purchasing a brand-new TV for your home should be an exciting experience, first and foremost.  To hear this experience has been soured by your interactions with Citibank and how a credit increase is conducted and reflected on your credit report, is especially disappointing.  Although it sounds like you’ve since decided to cancel your card, I do hope you’ll consider shopping with us again in the future, so we can help you meet your technology needs.
