Charged Restocking Fee on defective item

I purchased an Epson Home cinema 880, and the image was dark on one side of the screen. I took it back for an exchange and they charged me a $75 restocking fee. I know that if I changed my mind the fee would be fair, but the item was defective.

Welcome to our forums, and thank you for sharing your experience with us.  Purchasing a new projector should be an exciting purchase, so it’s disappointing to hear the one you received wasn’t quite working as expected.


As it sounds like you’re aware, we do charge a restocking fee for projectors, as outlined in our Return & Exchange Promise, which would be 15% of the item’s purchase price.  With that said, we typically wouldn’t charge a restocking fee if the product is defective, so I’d like to take a closer look into your order to make sure we’re exploring all options available.


For me to begin my research, I’ll ask that you send me a private message using the blue “Private Message” button with:


  •  Your first and last name
  • Your phone number
  • Your email address
  • Your order number(s)
