Andrew-BBY works at the corporate office and should be considered the official answer/decision. Since you are well outside of the Return/Exchange period, the next course of action would be to utilize the manufacturer's warranty. Many manufacturers allow our Geek Squad to perform this work, eliminating the need to find where to ship the computer. If you are unable to part with your computer for the repair due to school, nckhammond had an excellent interim solution with an external disc drive.

While we would not be able to replace or exchange that computer, we may be able to offer a repair on it if the DVD drive isn’t working correctly.

You can set up a reservation to visit Geek Squad here. We’ll check the computer out and verify that it qualifies to be sent out for repair.
