Best Buy Credit Card

Inadvertently sent $1600 through my online bill pay 12/17/18 to Best Buy when it was HSBC. It was an old online bill pay profile. Now my online bill pay says I have to contact the merchant to get my money back. HSBC does not show my old account. Best Buy stores say there is nothing they can do. The new bank that the credit card is through has no record of my old account number. Best Buy, add this to the list of our customer service. This is fraudulent that your system accepted payment against an old account and now nobody can tell me where it went. The bank shows it received by Best Buy.

The My Best Buy credit card and My Best Buy Visa are now serviced through Citibank rather than HSBC. We don’t have a way to locate that payment due to this.

 

My best advice would be to reach out to your bank directly to see if they are able to recover the funds. If not, please give HSBC a call. It looks like their phone number is (800) 975-4722. Hopefully they’ll be able to track that payment down for you and refund you.

I tried that. They can’t locate my account. Best Buy should take ownership of this problem but of course they don’t.

The bill pay service you used out to be able to find the account number that the money was transferred to, and HSBC should be able to use that to track down the transfer for you. They’ll be best positioned to assist you with this, so I encourage you to reach back out to them.
