Battery Recycling

Is Best Buy no longer doing battery recycling(laptops cell phones, gaming controllers)?  My Best Buy in Vermont says no, but your website says yes.

Re: Battery Recycling

The recycling laws vary by state and county. The local store would know what they can take in your area and what they can't.

Re: Battery Recycling

Hello, mdukettte,

Thanks for your inquiry! I appreciate your interest in ensuring that your electronic waste is properly disposed of and recycled when possible. I understand it would be confusing to see that we do accept batteries and then be informed by your local store, that we do not.

The article that you linked to is from 2016, when we did indeed have kiosks in the majority of our stores for the recycling of rechargeable batteries. Over time, local regulations and other things have changed though. To ensure you are accessing the most up-to-date information regarding our recycling program, it's recommended to visit our Electronics, Appliances and Fitness Equipment Recycling at Best Buy page on BestBuy.com. This page will be continuously updated with what items we are able to accept, and links to any state-specific recycling information that our stores are expected to follow.

I hope this helps, but if you should have any further questions, feel free to let me know.

Sincerely,

Melissa|Senior Social Media Specialist | Best Buy® Corporate
