Why are we now getting charged tax on preorder cases? I didn't get charged tax for the Cinderella and Avengers case, but I got charged tax on the Brave case. Has BB's policy changed with regard to tax? I thought the presale was considered a deposit but charging tax makings it seem like we're purchasing the case itself, not leaving a deposit, getting the case for free.

Not sure. Thinking maybe new state law for you? I live in California and I've always notice tax being added for presale. But honestly it doesn't matter to me since that money (including tax) goes toward the final price of the movie when I pick it up. I don't think presale is considered a deposit though since you get refunded the money and (at least in my case) my movies are never held for me. Hopefully somebody comes in and gives you a 100% answer.

Hello worldchmps and thanks for the question!
I don’t have an exact answer for you at this time, but I was able to locate some of the pre-orders you’ve purchased based off the email address you used when you registered for the forum. It is possible that it has something to do with state or local tax laws, but I have reached out to other teams to see if I can find an answer for you.
Thanks!

Thank you for your patience worldchmps and I do finally have an answer for you!
I passed this information on to a couple of other teams, and we found that the pre-order for Brave with the steelbook had been incorrectly put it into the system as a taxable item. Tax should not be charged on pre-orders, as they essentially work as deposits towards the purchase of the item when it is released, and this particular item is being fixed.
I know you have already purchased your pre-orders for Brave, but the tax amount that was charged should be refunded along with $7.50 and then put towards the final purchase price when you pick up the movies.
Thank you again for bringing this to our attention, and please let us know if you have any more questions or concerns.
Sincerely,

Whats even better about the sales tax on pre-orders is in most cases YOU DO NOT get credit for the tax when you buy the product.
I am shocked BB has not been sued yet by this practice.
When they ring it up, demand they take off the sales tax. IT IS 100% Illegal to charge sales tax on a pre-order item. Its the same law that says you CANNOT charge sales tax on a deposit.
Look it up, its the law

If I wanted to get creditted for the tax, do I have to go to the store I purchased the case and just say they should credit me back or is it done when getting the movie?

Hello worldchmps,
When you pick up the movie, you should be refunded the entire purchase amount of the pre-order, including the tax, which will then be applied to the price of the movie itself.
Regards,
